To bulk-up – or not to bulk-up – that’s the question

Whether one should cut down first and then bulk up, or whether one should bulk up first and then cut down is the topic of much debate in bodybuilding. Other bodybuilders like to keep their weight and body fat percentage stabile year round.

Most articles you read in the magazines or on the net are written for the general individual guy, but the culprit is that everyone is different. We all have a different body-composition, body-shape, fat distribution and somatype. That also includes that everyone has a different ability to gain muscle or worse to gain fat.

A lot of it's down to genetics as well. Your genetics determine how many fat cells you start off with, everyone starts with a different amount, ectomorphs won't have as many fat cells as natural endomorphs.

There's also the matter of distribution. If you're genetically disposed to have lots of fat in the stomach area, you'll have a harder time getting abs than somebody with their fat distributed evenly all over their body. The most obvious genetic difference is between the two sexes. Men are prone to bellies and love handles (apple shape), were as women are more prone to getting big thighs and butts (pear shape).

You can follow the general guidelines but once you notice they don’t work for you adapt your steroid cycle, your training scheme or calorie intake. We all need to experiment to find out what really works for US.

We all know guys that can eat and drink what ever they like but don’t gain any fat, they make me jealous. On the other hand these guys are mostly hardgainers and have also much trouble building muscle. Also read our articles about somatypes: //juicedmuscle.com/jmblog/content/whats-your-body-type

When it comes to packing on muscle quickly, the fastest way to do that involves being in a slight calorie surplus. But many people take this to mean, “Just eat” and eat lots and don’t worry about it.

If You’ve Been Told:

  • eat everything you can to gain weight
  • eat, eat and eat some more
  • eating anything is faster than eating clean
  • just eat damn it!
  • don’t worry about getting fat on a bulk, it’s normal

Then you NEED to read the rest of this article. You’ve been told some bad advice by people who probably don’t realize that gaining all that extra fat just won’t go away. What’s that? You can’t just burn it off later? Or take these common examples…

Sadly, the skinny guy or gal, is still skinny but has a nice layer of stomach fat. Not exactly the bulking they were hoping for when they were told to eat everything under the sun. Or the average guy, starts lifting heavy and couldn’t be bothered with nutrition. He/She just knows to EAT and eat lots and notices their strength going up but they are a bit fatter. But don’t care. That’s what it’s about. They think “I’ll cut later and burn all this fat off later.”

PT141 and MT2 are peptides mostly used by bodybuilders and partygoers. They where tested for PT141 in a phase3  clinical trial, to be used as a tanning agent and to increase the libido. They didn't make into the "real world" and no pharmaceutical company can ask huge prices to sell it to the general public (like they did/do with Viagra). But it is used in the underground scene and underneath this article we will inform you about "real life' usage.

Horn of rhinoceros. Penis of tiger. Root of sea holly. Husk of the emerald-green blister beetle known as the Spanish fly. So colorful and exotic is the list of substances that have been claimed to heighten sexual appetite that it’s hard not to feel a twinge of disappointment on first beholding the latest entry—a small white plastic nasal inhaler containing an odorless, colorless synthetic chemical called PT-141. Plain as it is, however, there is one thing that distinguishes PT-141 from the 4,000 years’ worth of recorded medicinal aphrodisiacs that precede it: It actually works.

Whats your body type?

Over the years, there have developed several different types of categorising the human body. In Ayurvedic medicine that evolved from five thousand-year-old Sanskrit teachings, body types and their associated personalities were defined as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. If we go back to our high school/college days you will probably remember a guy by the name of William H. Sheldon. It was Sheldon who introduced his theory of Somotypes back in the 1940's. His basic theory proposed that there are basically three body types and each body type has a specific personality associated with it. The theories that Sheldon presented has become a central vein running through literature and research with respect to weight loss, exercise, and bodybuilding. The body type system that Sheldon introduced characterised the human body as ectomorphic, mesomorphic, or endomorphic.

Not every human being fits exactly into one of these categories but contains characteristics of each, although one is usually predominant over the others. In order to determine your body type, one needs to look back at your adolescent years to determine which category your body type you possessed before changes due to age and lifestyle transformed you into what you are today.

When you know which type you are (or which mixture) and diet and exercise correctly for that type, you will make much better progress.

While some women may think that Kate Moss is the ideal, from a fitness view point she really isn't. And many women who tend to be endomorphic will save themselves much suffering by not striving to change themselves into Ectomorphs; it's not going to happen. Conversely a true ectomorph who wishes to be a Sumo wrestler would also be in for a big disappointment.

Your goal should be to look as close as possible to (or stay looking like) a mesomorph. With the correct exercise and diet this can be attainable, and while you may be a bit upset that you have to work hard to look good while the true mesomorph looks that way naturally, at least you will still be fit and look good. And even the mesomorph will find as he/she gets older that some exercise and diet is needed if they want to continue to look good and be fit.

One of the most common steroid questions we receive is, "What 'roids should I stack together for optimal results?" In this article, I'll provide several stacking protocols based on feedback sent to me over the years by T-mag readers.

Remember that the effects reported from these androgen stacks are purely anecdotal.

While science is always something I tend to side with, it's difficult to argue with firsthand experiences. Therefore, it's important to take what people experience and then try to use science to validate what's occurring, or at the very least provide a clue as to why certain effects occur.

For instance, something I noticed while compiling this info was the variance in "feel effect" of various androgens. In other words, those that seemed to impart hypertrophy in a short amount of time were preferred over those androgens which were less associated with hypertrophy and more associated with satellite cell activation. This may affect how some people judge the "best" stacks, so just keep that in mind.

Scientists Hot on Gene Doping Trail

therapy and gene-targeting therapeutics were mostly a matter of medical prediction. Since then, they’ve moved to the edge of medical reality. Most advances are still limited to lab animals, but that hasn’t stoppedAfter warning for years that athletes would try to dope their genes, scientists are finding ways to catch them. The tests are still being refined in animals, but will likely be run years from now on samples taken at the upcoming Winter Olympics and stored.

The Positive Effects of Testosterone on the Heart

Steroids will cause your kidneys to implode, your heart to blow a ventricle, and your liver to squirt out of your arse, fly across the room, and knock the cat off the futon. We read it on the Internet and saw an after school special about it, so it must be true, right?

Actually, the more you learn about steroids, the more you come to realize that, like all drugs, there’s a difference between their intelligent use and outright abuse. In this article, Doug Kalman takes a look at the effects of Testosterone on the heart. What he found may surprise you.

Over the years we’ve all heard the repeated mantra that anabolic steroids are bad for the heart. Some physicians will tell you that gear raises your risk of heart disease by lowering your good cholesterol (HDL) and raising your bad cholesterol (LDL). In fact, as some docs will tell you, steroids are known to even induce cardiac hypertrophy (enlargement of the heart). And since you can’t flex your heart in an effort to woo women, who’d want that?

ANABOLICS IX: An Interview With Author William Llewellyn

muscle memory

Pumping up is easier for people who have been buff before, and now scientists think they know why — muscles retain a memory of their former fitness even as they wither from lack of use.

That memory is stored as DNA-containing nuclei, which proliferate when a muscle is exercised. Contrary to previous thinking, those nuclei aren’t lost when muscles atrophy, researchers report online August  2010 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The extra nuclei form a type of muscle memory that allows the muscle to bounce back quickly when retrained.

The findings suggest that exercise early in life could help fend off frailness in the elderly, and also raise questions about how long doping athletes should be banned from competition, says study leader Kristian Gundersen, a physiologist at the University of Oslo in Norway.

Other scientist just qualify Muscle memory as a myth, pure nonsense.

I want it all – and – I want it now

As you could read in part 1  of this article, the bodybuilding culture is changing and it is changing fast. People want instant solution, instant results.

This raises concern among people that want to inform and warn, these mostly young and naïve newbies. There are many websites, forums and booklets that inform potential users that are interested in shortcuts to increase their muscle mass. On these forums certain members manifests themselves as experienced people, most of the time these guys, or groups of guys, sell the homebrews and or veterinary compounds  ( Kynoselen – ADE - Potenay) they are hyping.
