A drug to make you thin

Pharma companies large and small are in hot pursuit of the blockbuster of all blockbusters -- a drug that lets you lose weight safely and effortlessly.

A drug to make you thin! Drug marketers go glassy-eyed when they calculate the potential. At least 44 million Americans are obese -- as many as 60 million by some estimates. And for reasons that go well beyond the associated health problems, virtually everyone who is fat is desperate not to be. In a 1991 University of Florida survey of 47 formerly obese adults -- who had each lost 100 pounds or more through gastric bypass surgery -- the majority said they would rather be deaf or blind than be fat again. In a more recent study, children who were shown pictures of other children with various disabilities -- with crutches, in a wheelchair, with an amputated hand, and overweight -- picked the pudgy child as the most unlikable in the group. In a culture that so vilifies fat, it's difficult to imagine that an effective cure for the obese wouldn't quickly find its way to the merely overweight -- another 67 million customers.

Moreover, an obesity medicine is not something patients would take only until they "got better." It could be consumed by tens of millions of Americans every day for years. Estimates of the annual revenue for such a market range from $25 billion to $50 billion within 10 years, depending on how many non-obese users wangle prescriptions. Even at the lower estimate, weight-loss pills would be by far the single most lucrative category in the history of pharmaceuticals. At $50 billion in annual U.S. revenue, they would outsell today's three largest drug categories -- cholesterol-lowering statins ($13.5 billion), antidepressants ($13.2 billion), and heartburn medications ($12.9 billion) -- combined.

The Positive Effects of Testosterone on the Heart
by Doug Kalman MS, RD

Steroids will cause your kidneys to implode, your heart to blow a ventricle, and your liver to squirt out of your arse, fly across the room, and knock the cat off the futon. We read it on the Internet and saw an after school special about it, so it must be true, right?

Actually, the more you learn about steroids, the more you come to realize that, like all drugs, there’s a difference between their intelligent use and outright abuse. In this article, Doug Kalman takes a look at the effects of Testosterone on the heart. What he found may surprise you.

Over the years we’ve all heard the repeated mantra that anabolic steroids are bad for the heart. Some physicians will tell you that gear raises your risk of heart disease by lowering your good cholesterol (HDL) and raising your bad cholesterol (LDL). In fact, as some docs will tell you, steroids are known to even induce cardiac hypertrophy (enlargement of the heart). And since you can’t flex your heart in an effort to woo women, who’d want that?

But, as in every story, there’s more than one side. In fact, let it be said, the dangers of steroids are overstated and, hold onto your seats, may even be good for the heart. Let’s examine some of the scientific studies on the positive effects of Testosterone on the heart.

Women & Winstrol

Overview
Winstrol, or "winny", is one of the steroids most commonly suggested for women, (along with anavar and primobolan). Winstrol comes in both oral and water-based injectable form (or as water-based, you can actually drink it). It is attractive to women or recommended for women because it is an oral, it has a relatively short half-life and detection time (i.e. it clears the system relatively quickly, reducing the duration of any undesired sides following completion of a cycle), and promotes lean muscle mass without water retention. It is most commonly viewed as a "cutter" for physique competition. Winstrol is also attractive as it tends to be both cheaper and more readily available than anavar or primobolan. Also because of this, it is less likely to be faked.

Winstrol is often grouped with Anavar as good steroid for "beginners" or those who don't want to go into the more aggressive compounds (i.e. injectables), however, it is more androgenic than anavar and sides are less predictable and more unique to the individual, with the potential of being very androgenic. Because of this, anavar would generally be the better recommendation, but winstrol is seen as a viable alternative.

Vitamin A: The Forgotten Bodybuilding Nutrient

The dense forest of bodybuilding nutrition contains a paradox: the quantity of information available is abundant, but the wisdom of traditional diets to satisfy the primary concerns of bodybuilders is sparse and hard to find. Typical recommendations include very low-fat diets rich in protein foods like salmon and chicken.

You will search in vain through mainstream men's health magazines to find so much as a mention of the importance of vitamin A to bodybuilding. Yet this nutrient is essential to muscle-building and may be the bodybuilder's most potent weapon. Vitamin A is necessary for the utilization of protein and the production of testosterone and other growth factors. In fact, one human study, discussed below, found the administration of vitamin A and iron to have results equivalent to the administration of testosterone itself. Rather than advocating the consumption of vitamin-A rich foods such as liver and natural food-based supplements such as cod liver oil, mainstream men's health writers are advocating diets very high in protein, which deplete vitamin A reserves, leaving one to wonder whether the athletes who resort to over-the-counter steroid supplements might be able to achieve similar results by consuming a traditional diet, rich in vitamin A.

The 'Oxy Express': Florida's Drug Abuse Epidemic

Tricky Rick: Florida Governor Rick Scott
Florida is the epicenter of a prescription drug abuse epidemic. Each day in communities from Jacksonville to Fort Lauderdale, thousands of doses of powerful narcotics like oxycodone are dispensed in pain clinics — storefront operations also called "pill mills."

When he started at the Broward County Sheriff's department 30 years ago, Al Lamberti says, the department was raiding crack houses and busting junkies."Nowadays, the drug dealers are working out of strip malls," he says.

Lamberti heads the sheriff's office in a county that includes Fort Lauderdale. It's a city that has become a destination not just for spring breakers but also for addicts and drug traffickers. "We have more pain clinics than we have McDonald's restaurants," he says. "They're taking their toll."

Lamberti recently joined a dozen federal, state and local law enforcement officials at a news conference held to announce a major crackdown on Florida's pill mills. It was a series of busts, from Palm Beach to Miami, that included more than 20 arrests and the seizure of more than $22 million in cash, exotic cars and real estate. But what about this guy? Gov. Rick Scott's policies could benefit his family's $62M investment: //www.miamiherald.com/2011/04/02/2147243/gov-rick-scotts-policies-could.html

GHB

GHB are the abbrivations of Gamma Hydroxy Butryaat, also called ”Liquid XTC” or just “X”. But GHB has nothing to do with XTC. Initially the drug was developed as an anestheticum in 1960. The use as a narcosis means has strongly been decreased in the meanwhile, because there are many better resources at the present time. Also the substance was used as a means against insomnia or other sleepimpairments, as appliances at labour and to treat alcoholic abstention phenomena. In animal experimentings GHB had shown to be involveded in the production of Growth Hormone, and that their levels increased during administration, and this draw attention of bodybuilders. Allready soon it became the nickname “growth hormone booster”. Until now no scientific proof has been delivered that GHB raises growth hormone levels in human beings, nor that it prevents the muscle tissue breakdown. During the eighties and nineties GHB became popular at bodybuilders. GHB was a widely available over the counter supplement  until it was banned by the US FDA in 1990. The substance has many beneficial effects, but it was typical used by bodybuilders and athletes because it can significantly raise growth hormone levels. Unfortunately, the increase in GH levels is also accompanied by an increase in levels of prolactin. The increase in prolactin counteracts many of the positive effects of an elevated GH level. This probably explains why many athletes experience, very little as far as muscle growth with the use of GHB. Several athletes using GHB, report an increase in lean body mass and strength increase. Many users don’t experience any muscle or strength increase, but do feel GHB helps to accelerate fat loss.

Dianabol®  history – use and dosages

Most articles about steroids start with the use of Dianabol at the end of the 1950’s or 1960 in  bodybuilding. Most of these articles also claim that Dr Ziegler  (on the picture on the left) alone or in concert with CIBA, developed 1-dehydro-17α -methyl-testosterone methandrostenolone Dianabol®  Let us review the facts briefly and see what it learns us.

But..Dr.John Ziegler was not the inventor of Dianabol  You can find it anywhere on the web, if you search for information about the history of Dianabol or methandrostenolone. That one sentence. "Methandrostenolone was originally developed by John Ziegler and released in the U.S. in 1956 by Ciba."  It is even in the lemma about Dianabol in Wikipedia.

An article states : “Ziegler discovered a kinder  gentler testosterone, according to sources, he submitted his discovery to the Ciba Pharmaceutical company and they agreed to purchase the formula. He was paid $100."

A nice story, but it is not true. Ziegler had nothing to do with the invention of dianabol. Ziegler was a doctor, not a chemist. You can follow the development of Dianabol in the patent literature of the fifties. In these patentapplications you will never find the name of John Bosley Ziegler. What John Ziegler did was researching the effects of these new means “in vivo” on the York weightlifters.

The History of Nutrition in Bodybuilding

The sport called bodybuilding demands the ex-treme in body presentation. No other athletic endeavor requires such high levels of regimentation for muscle development and body fat reduction. To outsiders, such efforts may appear vain and self-centered, even looming out there on the lunatic fringe. Nevertheless, the sport has had considerable influence on other fields of athletics, not to mention the general public.

We must remember that the men (and women) who sweat it out in the gym year after year were using the low-carbohydrate diet long before Dr. Atkins made it popular. Many other dietary strategies of today such as all-raw diets, protein supplementation, eating multiple small meals a day, carbohydrate loading, meal replacement packages and macro-nutrient balancing all derived their initial popularity from the bodybuilding field.

Best Bulking Anabolic Steroids

Bulking is an art. An art that takes a ton of effort to be successful at. Especially when you are a seasoned juicer who has already put on some mass. If you have not gained at least 20 pounds over the weight you were at before coming over to the dark side, you just have not been juicing effectively and you will be very happy with the information that follows. If you have put on a good deal of size, you will still find useful information in the following paragraphs, but for now, we will not discuss usage of other non-anbolic steroid bulking drugs such as insulin. We will get to that soon though. Keep reading!

The catch with bulking drugs is that you have to accept not being so pretty if you are to really put on some size. Water and a little fat weight have to come with adding considerable size unless you are a genetic abnormality. The most potent drugs for bulking involve the heavy androgenic drugs which also cause large amounts of water retention. All the testosterone esters, anadrol, dianabol, and deca or equipoise when combined with any of the former make for a good bulking team.

Undoubtedly, many people are crazy about soft drinks. By soft drinks I mean not just the bottled or the canned colas we normally call soft drinks but even iced tea and all other artificially colored, flavored, and carbonated soda drinks in the market. Some people believe they are going healthier when they take ice tea instead of cola. Well you are wrong folks. Iced tea is just as damaging and addicting. Have you noticed how it has been hooking you? Whether you admit or not…you are already addicted to iced tea just as others are addicted to the common cola or soda.

I've seen many who have been almost (or shall I say actually) addicted to soft drinks. Their meal will not be complete without a bottle of cola or a pitcher of iced tea. Soft drinks boost their appetite and make their meal more enjoyable. Well perhaps some are ignorant about the harmful effects of soft drinks but many I supposed are just unmindful. They are ignoring the truth because the bad side effects of this unhealthy habit have yet to be felt. While there are those who are not really aware of the bad effects, there are however many who know but do not really care. They are not bothered by the fact that soft drinks are nothing but plain and simple junks. They simply ignore the fact that soft drinks have very high phosphate content and yet zero in calcium. So what health benefits do we gain from drinking these? Nothing! Sadly though, many people kept drinking soft drinks despite having known that eventually this habit will lead to poor bone mineralization, hypertension, and kidney damage.
