Many bodybuilders, especially the ones that would like to start using anabolic androgenic steroids, ask themselves which steroids are the best for their purposes. I’m running discussion forums for a long time. And I see the same questions over and over again. Luckily science helps us a bit. Steroids where studied in the time of HIV and later for HRT (hormone Replacement Therapy) and male anti-conception.

Most authorities are developing a broader view and just accept that many young people use a lot of drugs. Recreative drugs but also drugs to improve their looks. They grew up in a society that accepted plastic surgery, fake boobs, “speed” - “crystal-meth” – XTC and especially marihuana, as normal. Authorities discovered that just banning it, clogged the justice system and prisons. And it is just useless. Social media shows what’s going on on the other side of the world. And ordering illegal substances is just a mouse-click away. That’s why now they opt for information and research, esp. in the Baltic countries and central Europe.

What does science tells us? One of the most interesting studies was the one that was performed on humans. Thus there was no need to question if these results were valid in humans, since most research is done on rodents or monkeys.

When talking about building muscle, many people place all their focus on protein. This results in a diet full of chicken, beef, fish and eggs. While protein does play a vital role in muscle recovery and growth, carbs are crucial too. One way you can increase your carbs in a healthy way to build more muscle is to add more pasta into your diet.

Pasta is a perfect foundation for healthy, nutritious and satisfying meals: pasta is generally eaten with nutrient-dense food partners, such as fiber-filled vegetables and beans, heart healthy fish and monounsaturated oils, antioxidant-rich tomato sauce and protein-packed cheeses, poultry and lean meats.

Nutritionally, pasta is rich. It is basically composed of semolina flour (ground from hard durum wheat) and water. Two ounces of uncooked pasta (five ounces cooked) provide eight grams of protein, one gram of fat and 42 grams of carbohydrates. The carbs are key. Your body relies on them for all vigorous activity. Carbs are broken down into glucose, which is used as a main energy fuel. If you don't consume enough carbohydrates your body is forced to run on fat and protein, instead of utilizing them for building and replacing body tissues. The reality of it is that if you don't consume enough carbs you will simply run out of energy. The organizers of the New York City Marathon realized this many years ago, and pre-marathon spaghetti dinners quickly became a tradition.

I read a lot about weighttraining/bodybuilding etc cause it interest me since I was a kid. Originating from martial arts into bodybuilding and powerlifting I have a broad vision on muscular development. That’s why this really bothers me. I read an article in the Dailymail from the United Kingdom. This article is from 2014, but 4 years ago a similar article about the same twins was also published by The Dailymail. Its rather negative story, as mostly when it concerns bodybuilding.

The scope of the stories where on a dad that wanted to exploit his sons. The family lives in Romania. Romania is a poor country and most people are unable to find a job to make a decent living. I just made a blog post on Calisthenics. Calisthenics are mostly still incorporated in strength training regimes in Eastern Europe. On the pictures made of the family Stroe for the articles, you can see the boys performing calisthenics, thus a safe and healthy life style. The media should concentrate on things that really matter. . I also recently posted a blogpost called “Performance-enhancing Drugs and Teen Athletes” picturing Richard Sandrak. What is calisthenics?

Calisthenics, or body weight training are a form of

training. With help of calisthenics you can
exercise your body without any dumbbells, barbells or a  gym membership. Old School bodybuilding originates from it as I wrote before in my post on “Muscle Beach”. Later more and more weights where involved. Especially after bodybuilding became hot after the legendary movie “Pumping Iron” with Arnold and Louie.
 
There is a big difference between Calisthenics, Bodybuilding and Weight lifting. Bodybuilding is just for looks and has very little to do with strength or functional muscle. As far as the differences between just bodyweight and
weights, I think both are good and you should do both. You must be able to handle your body weight, but you also must be able to handle more. In the beginning sportsmen like football players where discouraged to do weighttraining, “because all those muscle would make them stiff and slow” and it wasn’t functional muscle just “blown-up muscle”. All professional sportsmen and women  know better by now. Many disciplines in training do not have to push one another away, they can exist together and even done together, just like in the days of Arnold. You can join a gym and also join a group of people that train Calisthenics in the open air. It will broaden your vision.
 

Glucophage (metformin HCL) 

The drug belongs to a group of drugs called the 
biguanides. A group of antihyperglyceimic drugs. 
Others include Buformin and Phenformin. These 
drugs increase the transport of blood sugar 
across the cell membrane into muscle cells. The 
action works by positively effecting cellular 
insulin sensitivity.

Metformin is very similar to Phenformin that is also an oral hypoglycemic except that Phenformin is considered the harsher of the two compounds. Phenformin is considered to be from 5 - 10 times stronger than Glucophage at what it does for the body on a mg. per mg. comparison. Glucophage has significantly less side effects than Phenformin has as well. The chance for an overdose causing hypoglycemia with the use of Glucophage is dose related whereas you almost have to take a lethal dose. It is common knowledge that Glucophage will increase insulin sensitivity as well. Most bodybuilders use Metformin for its “safety.”

Most scientifical research towards brain damage and drug dependence is focused on nandrolone; one of the most commonly (ab)used AAS. Nandrolone is a synthetic modification of the testosterone molecule and lacks a methyl (CH3) group at the C19 position.

 

Apart from elite athletes aiming for increased performance during competition, both professional and amateur bodybuilders administer AASs to gain maximal muscle volume. During the past decade their use has spread to colleges and high schools as well. Over the last years, several studies examining substance use-patterns have shown an increase in anabolic-androgenic steroids (AASs) in all user groups, not only in athletes. The use of AASs is no longer limited to professional power training athletes and body builders, but a large number of young adolescents take AASs in high doses with the intention of improving their physical fitness, appearance, increasing of confidence levels, and even pleasure.

In every fitness magazine, bodybuilding magazine or something like Men’s Health, we read about female sexuality. We enjoy pictures of scarcely dressed models. The same thing with all the discussion forums. And that goes on issue after issue. This made me come to the conclusion that this was very suitable as a subject.

I recently wrote about the steroidmarket in Danmark, the Danish newspaper Politiken started to write about the Danish steroidmarket and all the brands that are located there or originate from there. Not completely new since the Swedish Aftonbladet, reported about the Swedish roidmarket which is off course connected with the other Scandinavian markets. The Vikings love muscles and musclepower, also countries like Iceland and Finland have large groups of people that compete in powerlifting, strongman competition and bodybuilding. I’ll compare a few operations the police undertook to destroy the steroidmarkets in Scandinavia. It will never work as you and I know. Part of this are the media, the police forces and the politicians exaggerating facts and dangers for their own purposes.

It’s now obvious that peptides and peptide fragments caused a real bodybuilding and sport doping revolution. Because pharmaceutical companies where unable to bring their products to the market, clever China based companies marketed the peptides. Many people where bashing these peptides and repeated the words of "scientists" that just like the days of early steroid usage.

On the message and discussion boards people reported mixed results. I recently found out that one of the biggest suppliers of Blue Top growth hormone, sold his vials dosed as 2-4-6-8 and 10 iu´s . Most people buy their peptides domestic, via online shops or "pharmacies" or via Chinese middle-men. And the fact that you pay for a 10 iu vial doesn´t mean that you get a 10 iu vial. And the fact that all the different peptides bear different colored tops and most of them just blue tops, doesn´t tell you anything about its content. Analyses often showed us surprising results. Just like it gave us laughs when someone mailed me that his " IGF-LR3" gave him erections and that he felt that he was tanning. “Do you think it’s real? “ Its therefore not surprising that not everyone is enthusiastic.

Most of us know that the major part of bodybuilding is nutrition. Bodybuilders are known to eat lots of lean meat. Actually many of them eat chicken and rice and rice and chicken, almost every day. I covered the rice in an earlier blog. And I keep telling you to buy organic, cause then you know what you put in your mouth.

Bodybuilding is expensive because bodybuilders eat a lot, especially those that want to grow. So we want big quantities for less. But it’s the same as with the roids, if you buy cheap, you cannot expect a very good quality. If you buy a burger for a dollar at McDonalds don’t expect real meat. I covered that in this blog-post.
