Anadrol (Oxymetholone)

Anadrol (also known as A-drol, or just Drol) is one of the most mysterious of all steroids. It was released in the U.S. Back in 1960 to treat anemia – which in itself is weird since anemia was all but non existent by that time in most developed countries. (And B12 and iron supplementation worked fine is most cases). Then again, it was originally developed by Syntex, a Mexican company so that may explain the need for a medication to counteract malnutrition.

Equally odd is that it’s derivative of DHT so it does not aromatize, yet, it can cause gynecomastia and bloating. It was once thought that the affliction was progesterone related but A-drol isn’t a progestin either, nor does it have any progestenic activity. (One theory is that the chemical itself somehow activates estrogen receptors). Also unusual is its dose – a whopping 50mgs per pill. This has led to the reputation that Anadrol is the strongest oral steroid available. In reality, it’s the strongest DOSED oral steroid available. If one were to compare Anadrol mg per mg to Dianabol in regard to building muscle, it may not hold up quite so well. But Anadrol does have its merits.

The truth is, Anadrol doesn’t bind very well to the androgen receptor which is most likely the reason it has such a high dosage. It needs to be high in order to be effective. Yet, at fity freakin’ milligrams it seems they went a little overboard! And at that dosage and as any drol lover worth his salt will tell you, this stuff makes you grow like a weed.

Anadrol is also considered highly toxic but that too may be due to the dosage more than anything else. When these drugs were being tested they were using recommend dosages. Compare one drol tab to a single Winstrol or Anavar tab, which came in doses of 2 mgs each and it’s no wonder Drol came off as more toxic per dose! Is it any wonder they’re often referred to a A-bombs! These baby’s hit and they hit HARD.

Another attractive aspect of Anadrol is the price – usually around two bucks per pill, which is on par with most other steroids that are 5-10 mgs, making it one of the most cost effective steroids available.

Since it’s a medication used to treat anemia, one of Drols main component is the ability to increase red blood cell count. This leads to increased strength though increased blood volume. And water retention – LOTS of water retention. In fact there’s an old joke about Anadrol; You gain 30 pounds, piss twice and lose 20 of them! This increase in fluids in part, also contributes to the extraordinary leaps in strength. The more water you hold, the greater the hydraulic strength, plus, the more your joints are lubricated the more “padding” it receives when undergoing extreme stress.

Anadrol is the ultimate bulking steroid. For quick weight gains, nothing beats it. The quality of mass however is questionable. Most of the weight gain is the result of bloating – which incidentally gives the dreaded “moon face” – a condition where water retention is so severe, one’s face becomes swollen to the point of looking like a puffy ball. For powerlifters, this cosmetic inconvenience is of little concern, which is why drol is the powerlifters best friend. It’s fast, it’s powerful, and being an oral, it’s undetectable shortly after using it. And it’s cheap.

Anadrol is not a steroid that should be used for extended periods of time. Besides the stress to the liver (or perhaps, because of it) Drol can make the user feel “out of sorts.’ It is not a “feel good” drug (such as test or D-bol) for many people though some can tolerate it better than others. Increased blood pressure is very common as is acne and headaches – two symptoms that should not be ignored.

Availability:

Anadrol is a mainstay steroid and most any place that sells steroids will carry it. It is not usually faked since it is so cheap to manufacture.

Dosage:

A single 50 mg tablet is plenty for most people though daily 100mgs usage is becoming more and more common. Many underground labs are making 75mg tablets for the bodybuilding market.
