5 Common Myths About Steroids

1. Steroids Will Give You a Body Like Arnold Easily

The secret to building a lean muscular body is actually not a secret at all: it takes regular workouts, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep.

While steroids can increase your strength and improve endurance while performing your workouts to help speed up the muscle building process, they are not magic or a quick fix. They are not a magical compound that transforms the way you look.

It takes consistency and hard work to build muscle, even for those who choose to use steroids. In fact, if you ask athletes or bodybuilders who openly use steroids, they will tell you that they have increased the intensity of their training after they chose to use steroids.

2. “Roid Rage” Isn’t Real

Researchers are still split on this one due to lack of research studies, especially because all evidence has been anecdotal or relied on self-reporting. However a lot of science is in favor of associating steroids with increased aggression. Studies have shown an association between testosterone and aggression. When you take steroids, the circuits in your brain which are responsible for impulses control develop at a very high rate. Thus, by taking steroids, you’re affecting the development of the system that inhibits your aggressive response, which can then predispose you to violent outbursts.

Roid rage has been associated with professional athletes, in some cases even leading to deaths of themselves and others, however the roid rage as a cause of aggression or as a motivator has not been proven.

Some steroids have a higher percentage of users claiming side effects like roid rage, particularly tren. Tren, or trenbolone is even known as the monster steroid, not only because it is so strong, but also because its side effects can seem worse.

All things considered, most people who report having increased aggression while taking steroids have also said that it is manageable, especially when you first acknowledge that it’s happening. Once you become aware that you are susceptible to increased aggression, it’s much easier to be in more control over how you present yourself and act.

3. Steroids Make Your Penis Small

This myth gets tossed around a lot, especially from those who have an aversion to steroid use.  Steroids do not change the penis size for guys who have had normal levels of hormones throughout their lives or unless you are still in the growing stage of development in teens and young adults.

Anything that converts to estrogen (like testosterone, nandrolone, and equipoise) could stop your penis from growing if you are still in growth development. Anything that can’t convert to estrogen (like primobolan, masterone, and anavar) could actually make you bigger for life.

However, steroids do have the possibility to shrink the testes temporarily. This is because when you introduce a hormone from outside your body, at a high level the body will shut down its natural production of that hormone. You can speed up ball recovery by taking PCT, or Post Cycle Therapy. This is using herbs, estrogen blockers, and testosterone boosters which boost your natural production to normal levels after a cycle.

4. Only Athletes Use Steroids

The majority of people who use steroids are non-athlete weightlifters in their 20s or 30s. This means that steroids are not just for pro athletes. In fact, many gymgoers who use athletes do not even compete in bodybuilding or physique competitions. Often times, they’re just regular gym rats, who aspire for something more than the gym alone can offer.

There is also a misconception that many people start using steroids as teenagers, however only about 22% of steroid users started as teenagers. Many people who use steroids eventually opt to go on TRT, or testosterone replacement therapy. This is a low dose of testosterone meant to be taken long term, as opposed to a short term, high dose cycle.

5. All Steroids Are Illegal

Speaking of TRT, this is the perfect example of when steroids are perfectly legal and even prescribed by a physician. Steroids are also still legal in many countries, which is where most online pharmacies operate. In fact, in the UK, steroids are legal to have for personal use, and can even be imported or exported under certain circumstances. That being said, in some cases possessing steroids with the intent to sell can be illegal. Tricky, huh?

Importing steroids or finding steroids domestically is always an (albeit sometimes illegal) option, which for the most part goes undetected. If you are unsure of what source to go through, always pick an online pharmacy with customer reviews, especially reviews which focus on the delivery process. Some pharmacies will even reship your order if it is seized.
