  • People and their idea of bodybuilding?

So, I've been to dozens and dozens of gym, both civilian, and military, and in many different countries. Every single time, it seems like bodybuilding is the only "right" way to do things at the gym.

Bodybuilding seems to be the "only" way to do things as to most people well, lifting weight is solely about bodybuilding and being shaped.

Personally I find this silly, bodybuilding to me is about appearance only. That when bodybuilding is the only routine type you're doing. There are many different routines and regimen beside bodybuilding. How about powerlifting, strongman, crossfit, there are so many you can't name as well.

A bodybuilder is strong when using a single muscle at a time. A powerlifter or athlete prolly won't be able to use the same weights as a bodybuilder, yet will have a stronger and more efficient body overall as they're working on multiple groups at once. Some of them for hours continuously... now they won't be as "good" looking as bodybuilders, as their diet can't be as perfect considering the amount they burn compared to bodybuilding...

Yet when I work out with those people at the gym, we're looked upon as if we didn't know crap about what we're doing.

The only bodybuilding approach I do is when I'm working on my biceps.

Where does that "bodybuilding" attitude come from seriously? I respect bodybuilding but ppl ought to respect every types of routines, even if they look silly to them.

I know what you mean. I try and balance bodybuilding, power lifting, and athletic training. I work out at 2 different gyms. Squatting/dead lifting/cleaning are rare at both haha.

Powerlifting is the foundation of all training. I think the bodybuilding "attitude" came from some guy in the gym who said "Yeah you can lift alot, but you can't take it to the beach with ya". Oh yeah, and I blame Jersey Shores for it too, those bastards.

i left hard 4 days a week 2 muscles a day mon/tuesday and thursday/fri, cardio 35mins on thoses same days - wednesday 45-60mins of cardio and every saturday i do a total core fitness class (it like p90x but its with a group of people at a gym/warehouse lol

i feel that this gives me a well rounded fitness routine... problem being is how many people can keep up a 6day a week schedule with how busy life is????

Badseed, what you're doing still is a bodybuilding routine, beside the core fitness class... what I'm talking about is pure powerlifting or pure core training. Pretty much working sometimes every muscles at once

First time I stepped into a gym was one owned by an Olympic power lifter. This guy is a phenomenon when it came to power lifting. He is only 5’2 and holds all types of records for powerlifting. If you saw him on the street you wouldn’t think connect him to weightlifting. He taught me a lot about stacking, training and dieting for power lifting. I enjoy trying something new every once in a while, but always fall back to Powerlifting. It’s great for the core strength. However, I am guilty of every now and then falling into the body building routines. However, I think it’s good for the body to switch it up.

Your body requires the same consideration when it comes to refuelling. Body building is demanding by its very nature. You are not going to get the toned, sculpted shape that you are after without putting in a lot of work in the gym. Eating badly is not going to make that process any easier, and it will certainly make it less effective. Food is turned into energy by your body, and just as with fuel for a car, different foods will have different energy levels allowing you to go for longer and in more punishing conditions.
