The DEA Special Testing and Research Laboratory (Dulles, Virginia) recently received two exhibits, each containing 10 pink pentagonal tablets, suspected to be methandrostenolone mimic tablets containing a different steroid (see Photo ). The exhibits were seized in Erie, Pennsylvania (details not provided), and were submitted to the laboratory by the Pennsylvania State Police Laboratory. Analysis by GC/MS and NMR gave no library matches; however, structural elucidation software suggested 17α-methyldromostanolone (a non-controlled ?designer? steroid). Comparison with a standard confirmed this identification. This was the first submission of 17α-methyldromostanolone in any form to the Special Testing and Research Laboratory.

Notice to consumers Anabol Tablets, attention danger

2/12/10 The Directorate General of Health and the French Agency for Safety of Health Products warn consumers about potential risks associated with consumption of the product called "Anabol Tablets" for sale on the internet can also be marketed on the territory National. Anabol Tablets is an anabolic used by some athletes to develop their mass msuculaire. The product label mentions the presence of anabolic methandienone and the name of a manufacturer: "The British Dispensary (LP) CO. LTD located in Thailand. Anabol Tablets is not allowed in France, it is not subject to any control by health authorities, and its marketing is illegal. However, it is sold on Internet in France is imported by post illegally.

The result of tests carried out by authorized laboratories also indicates the absence of methandienone and the presence of sibutramine. The quantitative composition of sibutramine in this product is currently not known and must be determined by the control laboratories Afssaps.

Serious cardiovascular events
As a reminder, sibutramine was the active ingredient of the specialty Sibutral indicated in the management of obesity and removed from the market in February 2010 due to a high risk of cardiovascular complications and modest efficacy.
