The Dutch Customs has seized 98 packages dangerous illegal drugs at the request of the Health Care Inspectorate (IGZ) and the World Customs Organization (WCO) in one week with a total of over 92,000 potential dangerous illegal drugs . The IGZ tackeled 23 websites that either advertise drugs or offered them for sale.
Countries of origin were especially China and India. This action was part of Operation Pangea VI, an international campaign against the illegal trade in drugs over the internet. Customs has checked over 7,300 postal and courier shipments.
Nearly 100 countries participated in the week from 18 to 25 June in Operation Pangea VI which was coordinated by Interpol. The international campaign is more intended to draw attention to the health risks that the use of illegal drugs can bring. Another reason to perform the annual campaign is striving to remove as much as possible potentially dangerous drugs from the market
Worldwide, 58 arrests where made in the past week. A total of 522,000 suspicious packages where inspected by Customs of the 100 participating countries. This has led to the seizure of more than 58,000 packages containing a total of nearly 10 million potentially dangerous illegal drugs with a total estimated value of over 31 million.
In the Netherlands Customs found a lot of erection pills, slimming aids and sleeping pills too. Salient findings were huge amounts of anabolic steroids in packets from Slovakia.
