Getting Gallbladder out friday, was wondering if anyone has had this done. Guess Ill be out of gym for a few weeks at least. No gallbladder does it mean its easier to gain weight? (less bile) Any other problems any one experience?

Hey brother I had mine out back in July of 2012, I'm so glad I got it out, I feel so much better! The Doc's told me I had to watch what I eat or I would get an upset stomach or some sort of shitting issues, but I still can eat anything I want an never had any issues. lol
I don't think it has anything to do with weight loss or gain, everything seems to be the same for me, except the pain I had before I had it removed.

Thanks MrBig that makes me feel better. Just curious as to what kind of pains you had and how often? I've had bad stomach pains twice including last sunday where I went to emergency. The only thing they found wrong was I had gall stones so I guess they assume thats the problem. I had cat scan they saw them and the last time I had sonogram and they saw them. Did it ever make you feel bloated too?

The pain I had was incredible, it was just below my sternum. It would get so bad I had to go to the emergency room, the first time it happened I thought I was having a heart attack!!!! The pain was only happening once every couple of months and I was able to deal with it. After a while it was once a week, mostly at night. Then it got to a point I couldn't take it any more, that's when I thought I was having the heart attack and ended up going to the emergency room. So I set up an appointment to have it remove and then it started to happen almost every night. Once I had it removed I felt so much better. A few day after the operation the Doc told me the gallbladder was definitely bad and it was a good thing I had it removed. Oh and yeah I had stones also and that what was causing the pain, I guess they where blocking shit up.

So it's out and I'm recovering. I tell you right after surgery they brought me food. Sandwich with mayo, cookies, hot coffee, and some other junk. The doctors tell you oh you need to eat. Aside from feeding you shit believe me do not eat! The pain food causes is bad. They act like your gonna die if you don't eat. I mean maybe 2 or 3 spoonfuls of something bland a few times a day is fine. I guess because the gas you still have from surgery the food makes it worse.

Really, I eat as soon as I got home (oatmeal) and had no issues at all after that, I was able to eat what ever I wanted and still never have any issues. Keep us posted for the next few days brother!!!

I know I'm coming in on the tail end here but my brother had that procedure and his post op was great. He felt so much better and no problem eating after a awhile, He did have some issues he said for a few weeks after that his appetite was normal..don't know why but he is doing great now and it's been just over a year! Good luck on your recovery!

Well as far as my surgery went. Spent the night in the hospital. Went home, did ok. Then 4 days later I had crazy pain. I went back in ambulance. Dr there in emergency was a bitch. Bottom line they told me it was constipation, sent me home with laxatives, enamas, etc. two days later I couldn't eat , drink and felt like shit. Spitting up bile. My cousin took me to a different hospital. I was admitted, had bad bile leak, intestines were paralyzed from organs swimming in bile. They wound up putting a stent to help bile go where it should go. So much for constipation.
I lost 15 pounds, a lot of muscle, haven't worked out in weeks. Hopefully soon I can start eating and working out the way I should.
