  • 60 min workout????

Ok so everybody an everything iv read says NOT to lift for more than an hour.... Should I start doing one muscle group everyday with weekends off or what? My current work out gos like this.

    3 sets/10reps/3 diff works outs/ each muscle
    Takes well over an hour...
    Mon. Back an bi's/
    Tue. Chest an tri's
    Wed. Shoulders
    Thu. Legs
Eatin an sleeping the rest of the week.

I want to start going every other day for an hour each time. For those of you who can squeeze a work out into 60 mins please tell me how ya do it. How dose your work out go? If I really have to work out an hour should I just hit one muscle the whole hour? I tryed it today an my back feels dead!!! I love it! Leme know what you think.

I've heard that 60 minutes is the sweet spot to aim for, but my workouts are never shorter than 1.5 hours, sometimes they will exceed 2 if I include abs or core training on a day like back and shoulders or chest and tris. I asked this question on a different forum and to a few of my buddies and it seems the answer is based on personal opinion. If you can workout for longer than an hour and still feel good I say go for it. I like to take longer rest during my big lifts which is one reason certain days will take longer than others.

The only workout I can do and feel sore the next few days in one hour is legs.

I base my workouts around a set of goals instead of a set of time. If I say 4 sets/10reps/6 different lifts, then i'm in the gym til I complete that.

I'd say over an hour is crazy.. you'll just feed on your muscles...

Ain't no use in lookin' back

I honestly started taking shorter rest periods. Weights suffer at first then you get conditioned. For example between that and switching to dbs I put 40lbs on my bench in 4 months. Everyone is different and I have always held a little more fat than most and that working out style also helped me drop a few pounds.

Doesn't matter, you have that many carbs and proteins in your body. You burn it all, doesn't matter if you lower the weights, you'll feed on your muscles. Nobody is different in that regard. A good work out is in between 45 minutes to an hour. Nobody is a professional athlete here, and even when I was playing college football we never did over an hour at the gym in one setting.

I think he is on the right track. I think you need to take into count your food intake and weather you are eating enough to fuel you rbody or are you going to do damage. I sometimes workout for up to 3 hours but
i do eat before workouts and I dont go from one thing right to the other I usually thke my time too. Its all up to you and yoru body theirs no right answer for one person

I go everyday cause I don't like to be idle. I just hit a muscle group everyday. That and I alternate a every week meaning that one week I'll hit single muscle groups everyday, then the next I'll be using multiple groups at the same time each work out. Tues: Legs
                      Wed: Shoulders
                      Thurs: Back
                      Fri: Bis and Tris
                      Sat&Sun: Rest days

I just started a routine like this and it is working well for me.

If your finding yourself in the gym too long your probably doing too many sets. You'd be amazed at the results you can get by even just one set. If done correctly it's all you need, aside from a warmup set. It will get you out of gym much faster too. Look into heavy duty training by Mike Mentzer or read on how Dorian Yates trains. If you look on the training forum there is an excellent workout posted by FIST I believe called 3 day mass workout. It's a total body workout where you do like 13 excercises one set each with a warmup first. I have been doing it and it's great. It's worth taking a look at, you never know.
