Alright after much deliberation and struggle to get down to single digit body fat I'm going to give the ketogenic plan a 4-6 week run. I'm aware this is not a diet recommended for all but I can't seem to drop any weight no matter the diet or amount of cardio I put in. Do any of you guys have any experience with the ketogenic diet? If so what if any negative experiences did you encounter? Thanks!

If you try everything and aren't losing fat, how about this, are you starving yourself? If your body goes into starvation mode it will shut down and store what ever you eat. Have your tried add more calories to the diet?

Yeah I've added & subtracted calories with around 22-2500 on the low end up to 35-4000 on the high end. I've been lifting and dieting for years and in the past when I've wanted to cut I've cut. I was able to shed some fat but this spare tire will not go away. I'm only holding fat around the lower mid. As in you can see my upper abs but not the lower. I'm 39 years old 6'1" 230lbs and blaming it on the age.lol I had a buddy go keto with success and at my wits end decided to give it a try. I was only looking for some people with prior experience with any negative effects.

Yeah I've never tried it, but like you said your getting older and as we get older that area gets harder and harder to lose fat there.

I ran a keto diet several years ago with good results, but I was fat to start with. I don't know how well it will work to get rid of those that few stingy pounds. The worst side effects I encountered was the bad breath and in all honesty, it was hard to shit sometimes. So stock up on mouthwash and psyllium husks

Yeah I heard about the bathroom struggles and spent a little time in the drug show looking into ways of getting fiber into this diet. I'm already a fan of fiber one bars but they are loaded with carbs as far as this diet goes. I'm thinking I'll make a log in the diet section for any other members that are looking at trying this diet. I started today and couldn't tell a difference or a drop in energy that I was told to expect. I'm thinking it'll probably hit around day 3. We'll see here's hoping for the best.

Good luck with it. I never noticed a drop in energy, actually I felt more energetic, but I was overweight to begin with, so I think any change that I made would have given me more energy. I remembered that I had blood work done after about a year as well. Numbers were very good. The ones I remember were a normal blood pressure, a 150 cholesterol and my triglycerides were under 100. Whether it works that way for everyone, I don't know.
