  • Jamaican Footballer Banned For Doping

Jermaine Hue, a Jamaican midfielder who has made more than 40 appearances for the national team, has received a suspension of nine months after he tested positive for Dexamethasone aka DMAA the active ingredient in energy-supplements as Jack3d en OxyElite Pro

Hue was suspended for an anti-doping rule violation following a doping control conducted after the qualifying match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ played in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on 11 June 2013. He had been declared ineligible for a period of 9 months after testing positive for dexamethasone, a substance included on WADA’s 2013 Prohibited List. It was remarked by FIFA that the player has violated article 6 of the FIFA Anti-Doping Regulations and the team doctor has contravened article 13 of said regulations by administrating the prohibited substance to the player. As such, both have contravened article 63 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
The team doctor, Carlton Fraser, was hit with a punishment of four year after “having administered” the corticosteroid, FIFA said in a statement on its website.
“This suspension covers all types of matches, including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures,” FIFA said.
In August this year, the two were provisionally suspended after the midfielder tested positive following Jamaica’s World Cup qualifier at Honduras in June.
FIFA said the suspension of Hue expires on May 6, 2014, and Fraser’s ban runs until August 7, 2017. The Jamaican midfielder is the second suspended for doping by the world governing body of football in in the current World Cup qualifying program. FIFA banned Peru midfielder Joel Sanchez in March for two years after he tested positive for the stimulant methylhexaneamine after a 1-1 draw at Bolivia in La Paz last October..
