    Is there any reason for this? Different oil (not likely)? Different concentration?

      i'e seen this happen many times with all sorts of different brands. its simply oxidation, the way metal rusts over time.

          In that case we would have a whole palette of colours across each amp regardless of batch number and not one uniform colour for one batch and another uniform colour for all the other ones. Plus metals = contamination.
