      Hi sam,

Thanks for the welcome. No never been to Temple gym. I think it might be in brimingham which is about a 2 hour drive away. Gyms in england are not all that great. Most of them are becoming chains now catering to the trendy weightloss groups. Yoga classes, pilates and spinning with loads of cardio equipment but little weights. The few old school body builders gyms tend to be full of equipment left over from the 1950's ha ha. A health and safety nightmare. Decent powerlifting gyms seem to be harder to come by these days. Although there are some good ones in the major cities.
Ive actually been to a gym in america (Virginia) But i was only 16 so i dont remember it well but i remember it being huge. I think america invest more money into there sports than we do over here too.
My cousins actually opened a proper good body builders gym in my area. All the local juice heads flocked there. It was great till they were arrested for drugs and money laundering and were caught with millions in the bank that they couldnt explain. they got 15 yrs each i think.
But i digress, i agree gyms in the states are much more state of the art. But i hope that will change. Bodybuilding and steroids are becoming huge over her now. Its about time the gyms start accommadating a growing industry (excuse the pun). :-)

sounds like the UK would be a good place to open up a gym. owning a gym has been a day dream of mine. something hardcore would be great. so much of the US seems to be turning away from bodybuilding gyms n favor of places like planet fitness. have you head of that place? they don't want bodybuilders in their "gyms", you aren't allowed to squat or deadlift and you can't grunt or make any noise while lifting. completely retarded, yet they are opening up everywhere. a lot of the larger gyms in my area are closing up in favor of smaller 24 hr gyms. you can still get the job done there, but they aren't the same as the huge powerhouse and golds gyms that really came together in the 90's. i think the best gyms i've seen have been the ones in vegas. man, we have seriously considered moving there because of how bodybuilding friendly our experience was there while visiting friends.

So let me get this straight. Vegas has great night life, amazing casinos, the best strip bars and the best gyms. God damn, sounds like paradise to me. If I was to go to America again I think Vegas would be where I'd go. Followed by NY. I've been to Florida. Great place with great people. Virginia was ok but a little boring for a 16 yr old.
Never heard of planet fitness but I know the sort of place you mean. Sounds retarded. The whole world has gone soft IMO. Bodybuilders are being forced back into their garages. It surprises me since men are becoming more and more obsessed with body image and muscle. Well at least here in England they are. Apparently steroids are the 2nd most used drug in the uk.

2nd most used drug? wow. popular culture would have me believe that everyone was super mod, wearing pea coats, j/k.

we once flew into vegas, stayed for a few days and then drove to LA (4 hr drive) to fly out a few days later. for the bodybuiding fan, venice beach is pretty cool to see. golds, the fire house, muscle beach, ect. we had a pretty good time. you'll see the stangest things in venice

Yeah I've heard of Venice beach, it's pretty famous. I'm not sure how true that is about being 2nd most used drug. Read it somewhere in an article recently. I know that for every 1 new heroin addict that joins the local needle exchange like 3-4 steroid users are joining. My gf works for the nhs and her collegue works in that dept. Recently a kid as young as 14 was found using them in Wales. Mental?
Have no idea what you meant by super mod and peacoats????

that reminds me, i just listened to a podcast where i sucuessful national level guy was talking about taking gear at 14 or 15. thats just crazy to me. i'm sure it's done but i can only imagine the physical and mental effect that have. don't worry about the joke i was trying to make, i can't think of a way to restate it. i'm not that funny anyway.

but, tea, welcome and i'll look forward to learning from you here!

Thanks Sam. I'm sure at 14 I would have been tempted but i agree that must lead to major problems. I was 27 my first. I'm more disgusted at the people that actually sold these kids the stuff.
