    THAIGER PHARMA BUSTED - RAID ? JULY 5th ? 7th
The events of July 5th to July 8th in Pattaya and Bangkok require that Juicecop bring Part II of the Thaiger Busted story. Many websites, forums, and commentators are offering up small tidbits of the story, some correct and some well off-base. I thought I should go ahead and set the record straight tonight.
The last 72 hours have seen Thaiger Pharma significantly exposed up to and including the Bust of their Factory Facility in the Lad Prao section of Bangkok and the details of what was in the facility, a small, rundown local cortisone manufacturer looking to make a little extra money. Over weekends as needed they allowed manufacturing sessions by Team Thaiger to mix their brew (as opposed to the roof of that decrepit old building in Hong Kong. (? SEE THAIGER BUSTED ? PART I). Feels like a reccurring theme for Thaiger, ?cooking by the moon light?. Catchy title for their book.
Feel the irony, by day brewing highly catabolic Cortisone, Dexamethasone, and similar cortico-steroids that break you down, then making D.bol by night. What a great bunch of guys, UGL operation with a sense of humor. The traces of dexamethasone found in one Thaiger sample is finally explained?. I wonder how many dexamethasone patients in Thai hospitals accidentally got big arms??
Complaints from the Association of Clinics result in the Bangkok Police taking an interest in the unregistered medications from generic Viagra to UGL anabolic steroids. A Japanese informant was used to stage a buy at Tops. The Royal Thai Police were granted a warrant to search the Tops premises.
    THE BREAKDOWN
At 7:30pm of July 5th, police raided Tops Pharmacy in Pattaya armed with search Warrant 193/2553 stamped by the court the same day. Bangkok?s Crime Suppression Division from HQ was running the show. The Deputy Chief of the Royal Thai Police?s Bangkok CSD section went out to Pattaya to oversee the raid (big boss comes on down!!!). Tops Pharmacy at 115/22 Moo 10, Palace Road in Pattaya (part of Chonburi province) was listed on the warrant. The warrant relied of the purchase from the ?spy? of unregistered anabolic steroids and unregistered Schedule S ?sexual stimulants? ? in this case mostly sildenafil citrate (copy Viagra).
THAILAND RUNS OPERATION FROM BANGKOK WITH INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE
There was obvious influence and oversight from Royal Thai Police Headquarters and multinational cooperation under the umbrella of OPERATION PANGAEA to protect intellectual property rights of multinational pharmaceuticals, but this is also a matter of the Thai FDA?s new public stance on unregistered pharmaceuticals headed up by the new ?take no prisoners? police by the TFDA?s NEW TOP DOG ?. The Thailand FDA commissioner has even announced REWARD MONEY for information leading to stops of ?unregistered? pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and foods in Thailand. The influence of top figures in the Royal Thai Police on site insures that those with local influence in Chonburi could not rely on their bank-books or influences to stop the actions?(at least without a much bigger check).
PHARMACY OWNERS CANNOT PAY FOR FREEDOM WHEN IT?S INTERNATIONAL AND FROM HQ
The owner of Tops was taken in and shaken down. A sting operation was arranged for a buy and bust on the local Thaiger Pharma representative. The local Thaiger rep was a Thai female. She was taken into custody and taken to Bangkok so that the case could be worked centrally at HQ away from the influences of Pattaya. Her information led to a search warrant on the Lad Prao facility where evidence was recovered of the substantial nature of this UGL?s activities.
THAIGER PRODUCTS RECOVERED IN THE TOPS PHARMACY RAID AND BUST
    FINEXAL 100, SU-250, DEXXA 250, FINAVEX 200 VENAJECT 50.
On the 2nd floor they recovered over 1,000 vials of unregistered Thaiger Pharma anabolic steroid products and a significant volume of generic Viagra (also unregistered). The pharmacy owner was taken into custody and formally charged.
POLICE GET THAIGER PHARMA REP ? SHE TELLS ALL
During the same day, a sting was setup by Police which netted a sales representative (Thai female) of Thaiger Pharma. Within 36 hours of this occurring, a factory was RAIDED in the Lad Prao Section of Bangkok. The facility itself was an issue of illicit dual-use. Moonlighting with Gear.
THAIGER LOCAL FACTORY BUSTED IN BANGKOK
A pharmaceutical company licensed for manufacturing the anti-inflammatory corticosteroid known as dexamethasone and also cortisone and others had been being exploited by Thaiger Pharma for illicit manufacturing of anabolic steroids. Police believe that on weekends and during the night, the facility was being exploited for the production on unregistered anabolic steroids.

    MEDIA REPORT SPLIT BY LANGUAGE
A number of media outlets are reporting these events, although moreso in Thai than English:
    ENGLISH PAPERS: LIMITED REPORTING
    http://www.pattayadailynews.com/en/2...f-fake-viagra/
    http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-ne...taya-pharmacy/
They leave off critical details from the warrants that were reported in the Thai media and neglect to mention anabolic steroids by name in the articles.
THAILAND PAPERS: FULL REPORTING INCLUDING STEROID DETAILS
The bust video at the scene of the pharmacy in Pattaya

    http://www.posttoday.com
The Post-Today has the Lad Prao factory bust with the particulars of the Dexamethasone production and how the small factory was being used for the illicit production afterhours in an unlicensed manner.

The list goes on and on. Thailand media outlets are covering this story with the anabolic steroid element of it in Thai.

    INTERNATIONAL LINKAGE: OPERATION PANGAEA
A confidential source disclosed the linkage of the issue to OPERATION PANGAEA which aims to protect intellectual property rights for multinational pharmaceutical companies. While chasing the Viagra concern, the anabolic steroids would be caught in the same trap. Though there were clearly complaints by clinics wishing to regain profits lost through the pharmacy sales of UGL unregistered steroids and sildenafil, the larger fa?ade of OPERATION PANGAEA gave the issue new teeth.
Some points about this steroid bust:
    1. The capacity of corruption based resolution of these arrests was diminished or eliminated given the international nexus and the orders having come from high up in the Royal Thai Police preventing deterrence or mitigation by any local law enforcement relationships. WHEN YOU CANNOT PAY YOUR WAY OUT – YOU FOLLOW THE RULES. FEAR IS RULING THAILAND’S ONCE BRAZEN PHARMACIES THAT CARRIED UNREGISTERED UGL ANABOLIC STEROIDS.
    2. Highly visible television, newspaper, and internet photos of the arrested pharmacist are producing a significant fear in pharmacies throughout the country who can visualize themselves in the same handcuffs and who fear the inability to “pay out” of these situations due to PANGAEA linkage and senior officials giving the green-light. This is evident by the number of pharmacies hiding their “special catalogs” and “special boxes”.
    3. Thailand’s increasingly visible efforts to show the WIPO and multi-national manufacturers that they can rid their country of unregistered and underground products.

THAILAND FINANCIAL AND EGO MOTIVATIONS FOR CRUSHING UNREGISTERED UGL PHARMA
Thailand also has financial motivations for this move. The underground steroid laboratories and unregistered pharmaceuticals do not contribute to tax revenue to run the government. The UGL’s do not pay taxes on profits in Thailand. The pharmacies do not record the profits and so pharmacy revenues from UGL products are not taxed. Also less Thai’s receive compensation if the company doesn’t have to jump through the hoops of Thailand. Unregistered bypasses all the mechanisms in Thailand that milk foreign companies (think Unilever and Carrefour).
Loss of face is also a big issue in Thai culture and much “loss of face” occurs when foreign governments are constantly contacting Thailand to complain about these issues, whether online pharmacies, copy bags, or DVDs.

    THAIGER’S ON-LINE ISSUES;
The Thaiger Pharma owners are trying to play disaster control and migrate the THAIGERPHARMA.COM domain off to another location now to protect it from seizure or compromise by their Web Hosting and Development company: BRINKSTUDIO.COM
Where was Brink Studio located??? You guessed it… LAD PRAO… Thaiger pharma was using a web development company less than 1 km from their ILLICIT UGL LAB. I told you that these guys are not the brightest of breeds.
    Getting ready for the heat?
The UGL’s and pharmacies were well aware that the rate of attempted stings and busts were growing to a level never seen before in Thailand. Perhaps it was the lack of tourists and the hungry boys in brown, perhaps the Pangaea international pressure. The buy and bust rate from police shifted from once every few months to almost weekly, but the press never talks about the small one’s when there was nothing big to show for it.

    CONCLUSIONS:
In my decades of watching the anabolic steroids business, I have yet to see Thailand make such bold moves as I have witnessed during the last 6 months. I have never heard of pharmacies so worried about facing real jail time. I have never heard of so many attempts by Police using white informants to attempt to buy unregistered anabolic products. The heat is definitely on and the pressure is being felt throughout the Thai government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is getting pressure from companies losing revenues and foreign law enforcement agencies.
Even the Thailand FDA Director has come out to make statements about the unregistered pharmaceutical problems (though we blamed the foreigners for consuming them and not the pharmacies for selling them).
The picture of the UGL scene in Thailand is likely to change substantially as this is a different situation that one typically sees.
