  • Inosine

Inosine possesses antihypoxic, antiarrhythmic and anabolic action. Inosine is a precursor of ATP synthesis that regulates metabolism in heart tissue. Inosine increase energetic balance of myocardium, stimulates the synthesis of nucleotides, increases the activity of a range of Kreb's cycle enzymes. Inosine increases heart rate and cardiac output; myocardium blood supply is increased as well. Inosine also lowers platelets aggregation, activates tissue regeneration.
    How to Use It
Although a common amount of inosine taken by athletes is 5,000–6,000 mg per day, little scientific evidence supports the use of this supplement in any amount.

    Where to Find It

Inosine is found in brewer’s yeast and organ meats. It is also available as a supplement.

    Possible Deficiencies
Inosine is not an essential nutrient, so deficiencies do not occur.

Inosine is a nucleoside, one of the basic compounds comprising cells. It is a precursor to adenosine, an important energy molecule, and plays many supportive roles in the body.
