  • how much protein?

    if you want to grow, you have to eat a lot of protein.you can't get to a certain size and stop eating. you have to continue to eat the amount of food that got you to the size you are. and if you grow, you will then have to eat even more to continue growing. it's that simple. thats the "secret". i just read a post by juan diesel morel. he's 274.8 in the off season, looking totally awesome. when someone asked him how much food he eats, this is what he said...
    taking in about 700 grams of protein a day sometimes more carbs around 300 mon thru thursday and 1000 Friday, sat and Sunday.. fats are 250 to 300 a day i eat 8 solid meals and right 2 shakes
    if you want to be big, you have to learn to eat. don't come on the board and complain that you are a hard gainer and can't get bigger than 150lbs at 5 9' unless you have spend 3 years straight eating at least 400grams of protein, 300 carbs and 200gram healthy fat. you have to put the work in guys!

              Great post and very true. My diet is my Main focus. It's something I've neglected a bit but am working on it.
              I am what I eat? If I eat lots of turkey will I become Turkish?.... Ok awful joke, sorry guys.

                          Based on Juan diesel's intake he eats about 2.5 grams of protein per lb of body weight, so i'm 170 and should eat 425 grams of protein per day? Would I still see significant gains if i ate say 1.5 grams/ lb of body weight? 255 grams of protein is alot more reasonalbe than 425 based on my budget, lol.

                              Sam, I constantly stress diet and food intake to guys looking to grow! All the aas in the world will do nothing unless you pound the food. And solid meals are much better than drinking shakes. Shakes should supplement your whole meals. I focus on two grams of protein per lbs of my desired size. So if I wanna be 300lbs that means at least 600 grams of protein, plus my carbs and healthy fats! Many times I will drnk a protein shake along with my whole meals, it's the only way for me to get the protein and calories down. My shakes are always a mix of whey and casien, except post workout then it's straight whey. I live on eggs, beef and chicken! Eat meat, packs on meat! There is no such thing as too much protein while on cycle. Nitrogen retention is one of the main desirable side effects of aas usage. Food is anabolic, and it's the biggest factor to why guys fail! I think it's about 80 percent of the muscle growth equation, people don't realize how important it is!
