  • Protein shake?

    Hey
How big is the difference between using water or milk in a protein shake? Alot of people say water..but I prefer milk..what is the best type of milk to use? I usually use 2% or fat free..

If you do a post work out shake, you should use water. Any other time you can use milk, I like to use whole milk for my morning shake and fat free milk for all others.

I use organic goat milk it's expensive as shit but well worth it. Almond milk is also a great choice. As my background is in holistic nutrition I have studied what they do and add to reg milk when processed. NOw If your doing cardio with your work out go for it. But although the nutrition facts Only tell you how much sugar is contained in each serving it actually has much more sugar added to make it taste good. Think about it. In the process of pasturezation they boil the milk until every living bacteria is dead. Add artificial vitamins and add more sugar to flavor and preserve it. Raw milk would be an ideal choice which is milk that comes straight from the cow. Depending on your goals would depend on what kind of milk. For instance if I was trying to shred I would use unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk. Sugar is fuel but also can be stored as fat. Shredding consists of trying to get your body to burn fat not sugar.

Very informative information and like you say almost all nutritional products are altered and contain compounds not listed on the lable.

Fake milk being sold as the real McCoy? It seems unfeasible, but it’s not. Milk is one of the most commonly adulterated food items out there. A look at the Food Fraud Database turns up pages of search results for milk, with a nightmarish list of adulterants. For starters: Melamine, non-authentic animal sources, formaldehyde, urea, hydrogen peroxide, machine oil, detergent, caustic soda, starch, non-potable water, cow tallow and pork lard. Gulp.

IMO - the difference between Water + Milk has to do (of course weather ur Pre-Contest or OffSeason) with ur tolerance to milk - lactose+milk fats and also ur BF%.

            When I'm bulking (+ have the funds) I have a 1st thing am shake, protein powder mixed w water + 6 eggwhite's (those 1/2 gallon pasteurized eggwhite's) b4 1st meal.
All my protein shakes r mixed w water but I do drink milk.
I use Natures Best Isopure Zero Carb, I also liked Intek's Isolate.

I thinks whey protein is best to gain muscles size because proteins are very important components, which are required by the body for building muscles and whey protein is best among all.

I think that the calories make the difference – honestly I am not entirely positive how much the rate of absorption would be altered if you decided to switch from milk (or skim milk, or almond milk) to just regular water. I know that I prefer to drink my shakes with skim milk, just for the sake of keeping it down.

The type of protein and what to mix with it isnt that important. It depends on your goals and what you are trying to achieve. I mix most of my shakes with milk. You may hear to mix it with water to have less the fat/carbs/etc and the water will help the whey digest faster PWO. Otherwise, it does not matter. Its all about getting the proper nutrient values protein/carbs/fats that go with your goals.

Milk is beneficial when trying to build more muscles as it contain protein. Low Fat milk of less than 2% or using a fat free milk is okay.
