Bellator Makes Brandon Halsey-Kendall Grove Official
By Dana Becker on March 3, 2015

Brandon Halsey’s first Bellator middleweight title defense is now official, as he’ll meet Kendall Grove on May 15 from Temecula, California.

The bout was previously reported by Grove himself for the Pechanga Resort and Casino. The main card will air on Spike TV.

Halsey became champion when he submitted Alexander Shlemenko last year, while Grove is a veteran of the sport, having also competed in the UFC.

“We’re really looking forward to bringing another exciting world championship fight to a great sell-out crowd at Pechanga Resort and Casino this May,” Bellator president Scott Coker said. “Our middleweight champion Brandon Halsey has been extremely impressive through his first eight fights, and I’m looking forward to watching him defend his belt for the first time against Kendall Grove.”

Halsey (8-0) is a former Div. I wrestler at Cal-State Bakersfield who turned pro in 2012 and is 8-0. Six of his victories have come with Bellator, including his 35-second submission vs. Shlemenko.

Grove (21-14) is a former winner of The Ultimate Fighter who scored a victory over ex-Bellator light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu to secure his shot at the 185-pound belt.
